15 year old starting to play guitar?
March 4th, 2010shamun_sage asked:
I’m 15 years old and I want to learn how to play the guitar, and I’m planning on taking lessons. Is it too late to start learning? What are the basics of learning guitar? What kind of guitar do I buy when starting? I’ve played piano for the last 5 years but I quit because I’ve lost interest and I didn’t practice. However, I been listening to alot of guitar pieces and I’m really interested. Is guitar, like piano for me, one of those instruments that gets boring after a while?

February 22nd, 2010What is a good guitar guitar for heavy and grindy metal sounds?
February 22nd, 2010Alex S asked:
I want to find a cheaper guitar, (under $1000) that provides for a heavy and intense sound. I’m looking for a sound in the vein of As I Lay Dying, The Devil Wears Prada, Underoath, Pantera, Avenged Sevenfold (older sound), confide, our last night, Alesana, ect. Overall, just a Numeatal or metal core sounding guitar.

February 19th, 2010Josh asked:
I got my guitar (BC Rich Warbeast) 365 days ago (lol christmas 08) and have never changed the strings. My guitar stills sounds great IMO. I like to play hard rock and metal and want a great tone. 1. What are the differences between thin and thick strings? 2. If my low e string was 68 gauge, how would that sound? 3. Can you tell me more about strings in general?

What are good guitar exercises to start playing Metal solos?
February 19th, 2010Derek asked:
I’ve been playing guitar for 2 1/2 years and I can play a lot metal riffs but when I get to the solos I can do any thing so what are good exercises to improve my fingers in that area. I also struggle with songs that have intricate rhythms, particulary megadeth songs. I know minor pentatonic, major and minor harmonic and minor melodic scales. I play mostly thrash metal songs.
